Reference Citation Guidelines for the Journal of Tropical Biology (2013)

I. In-text Reference Citation

1. References are numbered in the order of their appearance in the text and indicated by superscripts, such as [1], [2-3], or [1-3].  

2. References listed at the end of the manuscript must correspond to the in-text citations. Authors are responsible for verifying the accuracy of these correspondences.  

3. When citing authors in the text:  

   - For one author, use "Zhang San".  

   - For two authors, use "Zhang San and Li Si".  

   - For three or more authors, use "Zhang San et al."  

   - For English authors:  

     - One author: "Ray"  

     - Two authors: "Ray and Meyer"  

     - Three or more authors: "Ray et al."  

   Ensure that the names and numbers of authors in the text match those in the reference list.

II. Sequential Numbering System for Post-text Reference List

1. References are listed in the order they appear in the text.  

2. For works with three or fewer authors, all authors are listed. If there are more than three authors, list the first three followed by "et al." For foreign authors, the surname precedes the given name, 

with the given name abbreviated without a period. The following formats are used for different types of literature (in accordance with GB/T 7714-2005):
